My Climbers

Both my boys were climbing even before they walked and Noah walked at 10 1/2 months and Luke walked at 10 months...I mean really walking...not just fallen cause their heads weight too much. Needless to say, they are active and don't waist any time! Noah continues to bring worry to my mind as he climbs so high (Left: notice the height of the play set in the back ground...John even had trouble reaching his hands up to catch him if he fell)...

And Noah continues to climb on anything he can. Luke has followed suit! But he seems to be even more active, strong willed, and determined to further his 'skills' and reach higher goals. I am having to change the way furniture is arranged to try to avoid some of the falls. He climbs up to knock DVD's off, onto the entertainment center, up on the boys table, up on our tall kitchen chairs, into Noah's bed, and can pull himself up by his arms to peek at what I am cooking on the stove...dangerous, I know! The first many times I liked watching this impressive feat of strength but now he opens the oven and falls flat on his head. No good. I need to get a lock but hear those don't work the best. Ahhh!

It is fun to watch them at the park with the confidence of an elementary aged kid. I guess I am paying for my raising cause I know my sisters and I climbed on top of the huge metal swing sets and nearly give my parents a heart attack. I will no longer go to the park with both boys unless John or another adult is there. Each child needs one adult 'net' in case of a fall. At times, they do fall and get bruises but life goes on and they learn to balance even better. I guess you just have to let your kids learn some things on their own. It is good for them to stretch the limits and let boys be boys...and mine sure are!!!
